Research Assistant
Status and Location: Full-time, Washington, D.C.
Reports to: Director of Research
FLSA Salary Classification: Full-time Exempt
Hiring Salary Range: $57,000 to $67,500/year
Position Summary:
PRRI (Public Religion Research Institute) is seeking a Research Assistant to support several stages of the research process, including producing toplines and banners, writing report copy, assisting with responding to media requests, and number-checking all PRRI products. The Research Assistant also contributes original data analyses to PRRI’s blog posts (“Spotlights”), with opportunities to pitch and write independently. The position reports to the Director of Research. This is a full-time position with a hybrid-working format (staff works in the office two days per week); to comply with this policy, employees must reside in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. Responsibilities:
- Assist with all survey development processes, including designing survey questionnaires.
- Analyze survey data using basic statistical techniques.
- Assists in the production of survey toplines and banners.
- Write PRRI research reports and Spotlights
- Develops presentation graphics and materials.
- Assists in number checks for all PRRI products, including survey reports, secondary analyses, and social media products.
- Participates and contributes ideas in research team meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Assists in the preparation of data in response to media requests.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Effective data manipulation skills/tools (such as Stata, R, Python, spreadsheets).
- Familiarity with Google Workspace and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Strong statistical analysis skills.
- Database management skills.
- Effective time management, able to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, sociology, statistics, or another field.
- No formal work experience required.
