📊 While young women are increasingly leaving religion, young men’s relationship with faith has stayed surprisingly steady.

In 2013, 16% of men ages 18–29 said religion was the most important thing in their lives. A decade later, in 2023, it’s 17%.

Overall, the share of young Americans who are religiously unaffiliated rose from 32% in 2013 to 38% in 2024 — but this shift is largely driven by young women.

When asked if they have a favorable or unfavorable

When asked if they have a favorable or unfavorable view of Christian nationalism, around two in ten Americans (21%) say they have a favorable view of Christian nationalism, compared with over four in ten (43%) who hold an unfavorable view. Nearly one-third of Americans (32%) say they have not heard of the term.

Around four in ten white evangelical Protestants (41%) and Latter-day Saints (36%) say they view Christian nationalism favorably, compared with smaller shares of Hispanic Protestants (31%), white Catholics (27%), Black Protestants (25%), white mainline/non-evangelical Protestants (25%), Hispanic Catholics (16%), Jewish Americans (11%), and religiously unaffiliated Americans (8%). More than half of Americans who qualify as Christian nationalism Adherents (53%) view Christian nationalism favorably.
