Day 1 of the Republican National Convention has wrapped and Scott Baio, of Happy Days fame, was one of Monday evening’s speakers. PRRI’s Robert P. Jones reflects on how Baio’s mere presence at the event and speech was a perfect encapsulation of “nostalgia” in the GOP and how this nostalgia is driven by the decline of white Christian influence in the country, as argued in his new book, The End of White Christian America.
