PRRI’s newest report finds that most Americans pre

PRRI’s newest report finds that most Americans prefer the U.S. to be a nation made up of people from a wide variety of religious backgrounds. Just 34% say they would prefer the U.S. to be primarily made up of people who follow the Christian faith.

Partisan differences are stark: 60% of Republicans prefer a primarily Christian nation, compared with 85% of Democrats and 70% of independents who prefer a religiously diverse nation.
