One year into the second Trump administration, a n

One year into the second Trump administration, a new PRRI survey finds that one-third of Americans qualify as Christian nationalism Adherents (11%) or Sympathizers (21%), compared with two-thirds who qualify as Skeptics (37%) or Rejecters (27%).

Notably, Christian nationalism Adherents (30%) are more than twice as likely to support political violence than Christian nationalism Skeptics (14%) and Rejecters (11%).

PRRI’s latest survey finds that Americans are roughly split as to whether right-wing groups (44%) or left-wing groups (41%) are responsible for most political violence today. While Democrats overwhelmingly attribute responsibility to right-wing groups (73%), Republicans attribute responsibility to left-wing groups (72%). Analysts point to strong evidence that political violence is more often committed by right-wing extremists than by left-wing actors, as PRRI CEO Melissa Deckman writes on Substack.

A new PRRI Spotlight Analysis examines factors shaping Americans’ confidence in ICE, including party and religion, and their views of whether federal funding for the agency has gone too far as ICE plays an increasingly visible role under the Trump administration.

While solid majorities of Americans of color, including Black (69%), Hispanic (68%), and AAPI Americans (67%), have little or no confidence in ICE, white Americans are divided (50% have confidence vs. 49% who have little or no confidence). Americans of color are also significantly more likely than white Americans to believe increased ICE funding goes too far: most Hispanic (66%), AAPI (62%), Black (61%), and multiracial Americans (56%), compared with 45% of white Americans.
