This week, The Politics of Gen Z: How Young Voters Will Shape Our Democracy, written by PRRI CEO Melissa Deckman, Ph.D., was released by Columbia University Press. This marks the first book-length examination of how gender and sexuality influence the politics of Generation Z.
Deckman’s book documents how Trump’s presidency propelled young women to engage in politics at significantly higher levels than young men, resulting in a historic reverse “gender gap” in political participation among the nation’s youngest citizens. LGBTQ Zoomers are also participating in politics at greater levels than their straight counterparts.
Dr. Deckman spoke to PBS NewsHour’s John Yang about her book.
