The vast majority of Americans support racial dive

The vast majority of Americans support racial diversity and religious pluralism in the United States ⬇️

🌎 8 in 10 Americans say they would prefer the U.S. to be made up of people from all over the world, while just 15% say they would prefer the U.S. to be primarily made up of people of western European heritage. Most Democrats (91%), independents (83%), and Republicans (73%) would prefer a racially diverse country.

🙏 Additionally, 7 in 10 Americans say they would prefer the U.S. to be made up of people belonging to a wide variety of religions, compared with 25% of Americans who say they would prefer a nation primarily made up of people who follow the Christian faith. Democrats (86%) are more likely than independents (75%) and Republicans (56%) to say they would prefer the U.S. to be a religiously pluralistic nation.

This data comes from PRRI’s latest survey of more than 5,000 Americans on their views 100 days into the Trump administration. Read more at PRRI.org.

In an op-ed for The Hill, PRRI Director of Research Diana Orcés, Ph.D., reflects on her journey as an immigrant to the U.S. and contrasts it with today’s increasingly harsh attitudes toward migrants.

Drawing on PRRI research, Orcés notes that while anti-immigrant sentiment persists, only 35% of Americans say that the federal government should place immigrants who are in the country illegally in internment camps until they can be deported.

📊 According to PRRI’s latest survey of Americans’ attitudes towards Trump’s first 100 days:
🔻 58% of Americans view Musk unfavorably
✅ 38% approve of the job he’s doing in the federal government
🗑️53% agree that Musk’s attempts to find waste and fraud in federal government agencies are reckless and doing more harm than good

However, opinions vary widely by political party, generation, religion, and trusted news sources.
