A new PRRI Spotlight Analysis tracks recent change

A new PRRI Spotlight Analysis tracks recent changes in President Donald Trump’s favorability, finding that 36% of Americans hold favorable views of Donald Trump as of February 2026, down from 41% in September 2025.

While Trump’s favorability among Democrats has remained consistently low (currently 6%), most Republicans (81%) continue to hold favorable views of Donald Trump, down from 85% at the end of 2025. Additionally, Trump’s favorability dropped 10 points among white mainline/non-evangelical Protestants from 55% in September 2025 to 45% in February 2026.

Most Americans, regardless of party, religious affiliation, race, gender, education level, and generation, agree that we should teach both the positive and negative sides of American history.

Just one in ten Americans (10%) agree with the statement “We should teach American history that only focuses on what makes this country exceptional and great.”
