Over the past 12 years, the percentage of American

Over the past 12 years, the percentage of Americans who say they are extremely or very proud of being American has decreased by 32 percentage points.

The 2025 PRRI American Values Survey finds that Americans are evenly split in their national pride: Half say they are extremely or very proud of being an American (50%), while half say they are either moderately (21%), a little (15%), or not at all proud (12%).

Starting today, Americans can log in to the federal Affordable Care Act exchange to choose their health plans for next year — but millions are expected to face steep price hikes in 2026, with the most popular midlevel silver plan increasing 30%. Nov. 1 has been a key date in the government shutdown fight, with Democrats arguing that if enhanced federal healthcare subsidies aren’t renewed, the impact on consumers will be dramatic.

The 2025 PRRI AVS found that six in ten Americans (60%) say that the Trump administration’s cuts in federal funding of health care programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act have gone too far, compared with nearly three in ten who say this change seems about right (28%), and only 9% who say it has not gone far enough.

The 2025 PRRI American Values Survey finds that most Americans (62%) say the country is headed in the wrong direction, compared with 36% who say it’s on the right track.

When asked about the federal government’s performance, America’s global standing, race relations, and their own economic situations, most Americans say things have gotten worse since the start of the year.
