Fifty Years After Stonewall: LGBT Rights and Public Policy

This Civic Engagement Series event will be a survey/policy briefing followed by a panel discussion of the state of LGBTQ policies in Texas. Confirmed participants include Robert P. Jones, Ph.D., founding CEO of PRRI (Public Religion Research Institute), Texas House Rep. Mary Gonzalez (D-75), Emma Platoff of The Texas Tribune and Professor Asante Todd of the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

The mission of Pride Policy Alliance is to raise awareness and build a community for LGBTQIA+ students. The organization is dedicated to initiating dialogue, activities and programs within the LBJ School. It strives to contribute to the academic and experiential education of future policymakers, bridging disciplines and working within and across identities and policy issues.

PRRI is a 501(c)(3) a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to conducting independent research at the intersection of religion, culture and public policy. PRRI’s mission is to help journalists, scholars, pundits, thought leaders, clergy and the general public better understand debates on public policy issues, and the important cultural and religious dynamics shaping American society and politics.
